L'Heureux Cyclage
L'Heureux Cyclage is an association aiming at federating DIY bike co-ops based in France. It promotes and enhances the activity of bike co-ops defined as organization promoting cycling, learning mechanics and reusing of unused bicycles.[1]
L'Heureux Cyclage a pour objet de promouvoir et valoriser l’activité des « Ateliers vélo ». Les Ateliers vélo se définissent par leurs activités de promotion active du vélo basées sur le réemploi de vélos inutilisés et l’apprentissage de la mécanique.[2]

Programs
The organization offers a variety of educational and organizational programs for the bicycle collective community, including development of Wikilou, a French-language wiki of bicycle terminology and resources.
The group also maintains records of active bike collectives, with maps of France, Belgium, and the entire world.
History
France
L'Heureux Cyclage (Happy Cycling) brings together over 180 non-profit cycling workshops in France. These workshops, the first of which appeared in France in Grenoble and Lyon in 1994, are defined by their active promotion of cycling, based on the reuse of unwanted bicycles and the teaching of basic mechanics. Member workshops sign a charter that defines the activities of these participatory and community-based workshops. Thus, L'Heureux Cyclage is a network that unites cycling workshops sharing the following objectives:
- to promote cycling as a daily activity,
- to put abandoned bicycles back into circulation, reuse spare parts and recycle raw materials,
- exchanging know-how around mechanics and the practice of cycling in the city to promote the autonomy of cyclists: velonomy.
- Promoting popular education and the autonomy of individuals.
- To fight actively and concretely against all forms of discrimination.
L'Heureux Cyclage aims to facilitate the exchange of experience, the pooling of knowledge, and to promote the creation of bike workshops in all neighborhoods in France and abroad.[3]
Wallonia, Belgium
The creation of the L'Heureux Cyclage.be network was officially announced during the L'Heureux Cyclage meetings which took place in Namur from October 20 to 23, 2011. This Walloon network was built on similar, although different, foundations to those of the French network.
The "L'Heureux Cyclage.be" network aimed to support the fifteen or so existing Walloon workshops by organizing meetings, training sessions, creating joint projects, etc. It also aimed to help the creation of new workshops that offer services to the population, focus on cycling economy , or socio-professional integration.<ref?L’Heureux Cyclage: Les ateliers en Belgique</ref>
As of 2026, the Belgian network of L'Heureux Cyclage is no longer active, although the central organization continues to maintain lists of active shops, including 24 in Belgium.
