Group Rides

From Bike Collectives Wiki

Group rides offer a way to build community and encourage people to get into different types of cycling.

Group riding is a critical element for racing bicycles safely, so organizations that host a Youth Racing Team will typically host regularly-scheduled group rides for their participants.

Social bike rides are a notable subset of the group riding category; these rides typically feature a more relaxed pace of riding, with a focus on socializing instead of exercising.

Group rides can also be a valuable tool for Fundraising, similar to running or walking events that raise money from entry fees and supplemental donations. Hosts of bicycle fundraising rides need not be raising funds for bicycle-related causes. For example, the National MS (Multiple Sclerosis) Society hosts "Bike MS Colorado:" the 2026 edition was a two-day cycling event seeking to raise $2.3 million.
