History

Services Offered

Open Shop

Our shop is open on Monday and Thursday nights from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. A volunteer mechanic is available to assist you with any needs concerning your bike.

Work costs $5 per hour, or you can become a member for $80 per year.

Any and all parts are $5. We also have a limited selection of bike frames, starting at $25.

Educational Classes

Classes are taught periodically on basic bike maintenance and repair. We also have interest in having more detailed bike mechanics classes, and women’s only.

Community

Bici is working to foster a bicycle community in the Birmingham area through a variety of means - group rides, races, a mobile shop, bike valet for events, and representation for cyclists in government.

Earn A Bike

A long term goal of Bici is to create an Earn-A-Bike Program for youth. Individuals who participate in this program take steps to learn basic bike mechanic skills and in the end have built a bike of their own to take home! Funding is a major issue with this goal. If you are interested in donating time or money for this project, email anna@bicicoop.org.

Safe Routes

Bici support the idea that children should have the option to safely walk or ride their bikes to school. We intend to lobby schools and government to make this hope a reality for residents of Birmingham city.
