History
The Bike Shack was founded as a volunteer-run, completely donation-funded DIY workshop that helped people learn to fix bikes and provides tools for community use. The shop operated from "the garage behind the grey building at 901 NE 55th St, Seattle."
At an unknown date, the Bike Shack relocated into the NE Seattle Tool Library space. After some time, management of the Bike Shack program was handed off to Seattle REconomy, which subsequently opened a second location at their Shoreline tool library.
Services Offered
Only Tool Library members may use the Bike Shack and can use any location.
Bike Shack costs $20 per hour, but no one is turned away for lack of funds.

Get Your Hands Dirty:
- You work on your own bike
- Staff and volunteer mechanics are there to guide you, hand you the right tools, and teach you the tricks of the trade.
No Experience Required:
- This applies to both members and volunteers
- The community thrives on people who are simply willing to learn and figure things out together
Respect the Space:
- Leave the shop cleaner than you found it
- Treat all tools with reverence
- Put things back where you found them
