Measuring spokes is a process made easy by the two rulers the co-op has for the purpose. They are blue anodized and have a special hole on them for hooking spokes to measure them.

Hook the spoke into the hole as in the picture on the above. Pull the spoke straight, being careful not to angle it to one side or the other, and check the length further down the ruler. This spoke is 290mm long. The drawers in the spoke motel are 2mm apart; if the spoke is in between two sizes, file it with the shorter size.
