Even if every single moment in a bike collective was filled with people striving toward a safer space as best they could, there would still be a need for WTF night because the people who show up couldn't be expected to know that. Until I understood that, I spent a long time feeling uncomfortable about the concept of WTF nights because I believed (and continue to believe, actually) that it puts the burden of the work of thinking about issues surrounding equality largely on the hosts of the WTF nights, and then the rest of the collective often only thinks about [[Safer Space|safer spaces]] at their convenience, when I'd rather see every single member of a collective taking that burden on together and making every moment as much of a safer space as WTF nights. --[[User:Angel|Angel York]] ([[User talk:Angel|talk]]) 11:59, 16 February 2016 (PST)

|description=The way that cities are created and maintained mirrors the patriarchal capitalist society we have to live in. It’s a constant punch in the face. The freedom of movement is not only restricted by national laws, but the freedom of movement through and in the city is restricted by policies that privilege certain groups.

We channel our rage and put our motivation into our activism. We organize bike repair workshops, to empower FLINTA* (stands for femme, lesbian, inter-sex, non-binary, trans, agender) persons in do-it-yourself / do-it-together bike repair. We organize lunar rides at full moon, where we actively ride the city streets together, LOUD and VISIBLE. We organize screenings, discussions and other workshops, like street art and verbal self defense, to build a feminist and radical mindset in the places we move. The world is fucked up and we are angry about it. Still, we find joy in our activism and in celebrating as a part of our resistance.

http://radsisters.blogsport.at // https://www.facebook.com/radsisters

===We Need YOU to Volunteer===
'''PANELISTS WANTED:''' Starting a community bike shop: "Hi I'm new to the ThinkTank and I'd like to know how to start a community bike shop" is one of the most common questions we get. Be a panelist. Share your hard-earned knowledge at noon (Eastern US Time) on Saturday.

'''FACILITATORS WANTED:''' Bike!Bike! Everywhere! 2021. If we don't get facilitators, these will happen anyway. However, picking a facilitator will take a few minutes away from the group. Best to volunteer ahead of time so you at least know to expect it!

*BIPOC group
*Europeans, Australians, Asians, and night owls hang out
*Small talk (Saturday)
*Small talk (Sunday)
*WTF (women/trans/femme group)
*On Call (If a workshop gets a lot more people than anticipated, it would be nice to have you on available to join in and help out.)

'''ON-CALL MEDIATORS NEEDED:''' We need more people with mediation training to be available on call, just in case.

'''TECH VOLUNTEERS:''' We need someone to do the online equivalent of "fumbling with the microphone" and "connecting the powerpoint presentation to the overhead projector" for every. single. workshop. It's easy. We'll train you. Please help.

=====There is a DRESS REHEARSAL for Panelists, Facilitators, Interpreters, and Tech Volunteers. It will be on Saturday, November 6 from 10am to 3pm Pacific / 1pm to 6pm Eastern time.=====

===Te Necesitamos como Voluntario===
'''SE BUSCAN PANELISTAS:''' Comenzando un taller de bicis comunitario: “Hola acabo de integrarme al ThinkTank y me gustaría saber cómo empezar un taller de bicis comunitario” es una de las preguntas más comunes que recibimos. Sé panelista, comparte el conocimiento que has ganado con esfuerzo a las 9:00 (tiempo del pacifico) Sábado.

'''SE BUSCAN FACILITADORXS:''' Si no tenemos alguien para facilitar estos grupos van a ocurrir de cualquier forma. Sin embargo, escoger una persona para hacerlo tomará solo unos minutos. Lo mejor es ofrecerse como voluntarix con anticipación ¡así por lo menos ya lo esperas!

*grupo para personas negras, racializadas y de pueblos originarios
*cotorreo de europexs, australianxs, asixns, y noctámbulxs
*meet & greet (viernes)
*meet & greet (sábado)
*charla (sábado)
*charla (domingo)
*wtf (grupo de mujeres/trans/femme)
*de guardia (Si recibimos muchas más personas de las que anticipamos, estaría bien tenerte disponible para unirte y ayudar.)

'''SE BUSCAN MEDIADORXS DE GUARDIA:''' Necesitamos más personas con capacitación en mediación disponibles, por si acaso.

'''VOLUNTARIXS TÉCNICXS:''' Necesitamos a alguien para que haga el equivalente digital a “revolverse con el micrófono” y “poner la presentación en el proyector” para cada. uno. de. los. talleres. Es fácil, Te entrenaremos. Por favor ayuda.

====Habrá un ensayo para Panelistxs, Facilitadorxs, Interpretes, y Voluntarixs Técnicxs. Será el 6 de noviembre de 10am a 3pm (tiempo del pacífico) / 1pm a 6pm (tiempo del este)====

== History ==
<!-- Let know know how you came to be where you are now. -->
The AMS Bike Co-op was founded in the spring of 1998 by a group of very dedicated students. The venture was financially backed by the AMS Innovative Projects Fund, Trek, and other supporters. The original purpose of the co-op was to build a shared fleet of purple and yellow bicycles which could be used by students to reduce the number of car trips on campus. This initiative was hugely successful, and continues to be a foundation of the co-op’s programming. After the initial success of this program, the co-op continued to expand its operations, gained a core of dedicated volunteers and became a hub for cycling on campus.

Etienneh: Update link from Login to Special:RequestAccount

==Should I contribute? ==
Yes, absolutely! If you are comfortable with adding content to the wiki, then go for it!

==How should I get started?==
The first thing you should do is [[Special:RequestAccount|Create an Account]].

Once you've created an account, you should use the search bar or visit the list of [[Community Bicycle Organizations]] to see if your Bike Collective or Bicycle Organization has been included in this wiki, and if so, whether it's information is correct and up-to-date.

If you want to help out and need some direction, a good place to start would be to look at the [[Special:WantedPages|most wanted pages]]. Start creating these pages if you know anything about the subject, or if you feel that the content should be linked elsewhere (such as [http://www.wikipedia.org/ Wikipedia] or [http://www.sheldonbrown.com/ Sheldon Brown]) you can edit the original article to remove it from the list.

==How do I see if my Bike Collective or Bicycle Organization is included in this wiki?==
You can use the [[Special:Search|Search Page]] to search for the name of your group, or see if it is on the list of [[Community Bicycle Organizations]]. Search is also available as a search box on the left-hand side of every page.

==Can I edit any page?==
Yes! Anybody can edit (nearly) any page. To start editing any page, just click on 'edit' tab at the top.

==How do I create a new page?==
You start new pages by looking for them from the [[Special:Search|Search Page]]. When the word or phrase you've searched for is not found, you can begin editing the non-existant page by following the red link in the search results. This works for any [[red link]]!

If you want to link to a word that is not necessarily bike related, but deserves a definition. Try to see if it's on [http://www.wikipedia.org wikipedia] first. You can link to it using the external link.

==What information should be on the page for my Bike Collective or Bicycle Organization?==
Generally, this is up to you! Although to make this wiki as useful as possible, pages should generally include your geographical location or address, a link to your website, an email address or phone number, and a mission statement or description about what you do.

To make this easy for you and uniform for every individual bicycle organization page, the Bike Collective Wiki has a template that's easy to use. When creating a new page, in the "Select boilerplate" section, simply select "Load" for the "Community Bicycle Organization template".

The page will then pre-load a template which you can fill out with the relevant information. For more details, [[Template:Community_Bicycle_Organization/doc | see the full documentation for the template]].

More general Wiki editing tips are also available [[Help:Editing|here]].

==What information should NOT be on the page for my Bike Collective or Bicycle Organization?==
Again, anything goes, but it's best to avoid including details that will likely be out of date soon. Things like hours of operation, board members, and costs to the user should be easy to find on your website, including them here will only cause you to have to update the page more often. However, including that your shop is generally open 50 hours a week or the names of founders or long term executives would be fine.

== When should I use those square brackets? ==
Using square brackets around a term will create a link to a page about that topic. If the page doesn't exist yet, you or anyone else can create it at any time.

The best time to use these on your collective's page is when you mention a service. For example:
<pre>
We have been providing an [[Earn-a-bike program]] since Nov. 2008.
</pre>

No need to go into too much detail here, the user can find out more by clicking on the link. If your program is different than most however, please add your information to the linked page so that a user can see all of the possibilities without having to search through all collective pages.

==How do I upload files or photos?==
# [[Special:Userlogin|Create an Account]]
# Go to the [[Special:Upload|Upload File]] page.
# Click on the '''Browse...''' button
# Browse and double click your file (ex: Filename.jpg) or hightlight it and click the '''Open''' button.
# Click the '''Upload file''' button. You don't need to include a summary or choose a license if you're unsure.
# Now that it is uploaded you can use '''<nowiki>[[Image:Filename.jpg]]</nowiki>''' in your wiki pages to display it.

==I have some content, but I'm not sure about all this formatting code.==
That's ok! Go ahead and add whatever text you would like. An administrator will see that you've created a new page and fix any issues it may have.

==I've added some content, but something doesn't look right!==
That's ok! If you're not too worried about it, just leave it for an administrator to straighten up. If you'd like to DIY, though, you can contact one of the administrators for additional tips (see below).

==I've read this guide, but I'm still not comfortable adding content to this wiki!==
If this still doesn't quite make sense, don't worry! Feel free to send anything you have in an email or as an attachment and someone here will happily contribute it for you.

==I'd like to speak to an administrator, please!==
To communicate with an administrator on the wiki, go to the [[Special:ListUsers/bureaucrat|List of Administrators]] and click on one to go to their profile page. To send them a message, click on the 'discussion' tab to go to their talk page, and from there click the '+' sign next to the 'edit' tab to add a new discussion topic. ([[User:Jonathan|Jonathan]], [[User:Dustingram|Dustin]], [[User:Quill|Quill]] , and [[User:Godwin|Godwin]] are generally available.)
