Our Earn-a-Bike program uses the bike as a tool to develop leadership and teamwork skills as well as bike mechanic capabilities in youth ages 11-17. Each week participants come to program where they receive a healthy snack, play games and discuss the daily lessons in both character (community, leadership, self-esteem) and bike mechanics (fixing a tire, gear adjustments, chains, brakes etc). They have the opportunity to use tools and disassemble and reassemble bikes every week.

Customer Service representative for Our Community Bikes. Started working with bikes at The Bike Co-Op at UBC (the founding organization of the Bike Kitchen). Love working on bikes and working with the community. I also race skateboards. I have a degree in psychology and a degree of bike knowledge that is focused on 80's road bikes. I have recently learned more about modern bike parts like disc brakes and threadless headsets. I love teaching people about bikes and making people mechanically independent.

The ''Community Bicycle Organization'' template ensures that all [[Community Bicycle Organizations|community bicycle organizations]] have a page with similar content, and more importantly that the articles are categorized properly.

== Updating to the Current Standard ==
If you have seen a warning on your organization's page, you probably don't meet the current standard but it may have changed since you last edited it. If there have been major changes, the easiest way to update is to simply edit the article and load the new boilerplate. You should probably copy your old text first as loading a new boilerplate will replace all of the text in the document. Then plug in your old information into the new page.

If there have been only minor changes, you may find it easier to compare using the template as it is shown below.

== The Template ==
If you were to load the boilerplate into a new page, the page would have the following content:

== The Template ==
If you were to load the boilerplate into a new page, the page would have the following content:

I work in the Insurance Industry, specializing in Nonprofit Insurance. I am trying to find an insurance market for Bicycle Collectives, and am interested in talking to other Collectives about who is insuring them, and what challenges they are facing, in obtaining insurance. I am interested in any feedback that would be helpful.

I am a CAN-BIKE Master Instructor and co-founder of Thunder Bay's only community run bike space, Community Spokes, which was was founded in 2011. Thunder Bay is slowly implementing active transportation infrastructure and as a cycling advocate, I have been working in the community to increase public acceptance of these necessary changes. I have been volunteering with Safe Cycling Thunder Bay and EcoSuperior on cycling initiatives and plan public events like Courteous Mass to encourage cycling in the community.

I started out as a kid with a huffy brand bicycle with a banana seat, gorilla handle bars, a sissy bar, 16"(?) rims, and training wheels. My training wheels eventually fell off of their own accord kind of like Forest Gump's leg braces. After riding and owning so many more department store ten bikes my friends and I saw the movie "Breaking Away" and decided to get serious about cycling and I bought a respectable road bike (a Shogun). Then I discovered mountain biking (Specialized Stump Jumper) and considered this the only way to bicycle for sometime. During this period I did stints as a bicycle messenger and a bicycle mechanic between semesters. Eventually, I got old and decided to slow down my ride and I started riding beach cruisers (Trek Calypso). Currently I ride a Huffy Santa Fe single speed beach cruiser. I also own a super cheap Magna Glacier Point that I chopped down for playing bike polo. Lastly I currently volunteer at the local non-profit community bicycle shop on a regular basis.

We call it Bikery. Drop in and use our tools and our expert advise from our facilitators and you will have your bike working correctly in no time. All donations that come in during Bikery build our base for doing children’s programming, such as Earn A Bike classes.
Cheshire County Bicycle Collective is a collective of like-minded bike enthusiasts where people can get together and tinker with their own bikes, learn basic bike repair, rejuvenate old bikes, or create any bicycle related contraptions or art!

Currently, we're located in a former sawmill shed in my backyard in Westmoreland, NH. We encourage others to put their bicycle caps on and come hang out and chat/ work on bikes with us! We collect bikes of any shape, size, and condition from just about anywhere we can find them, adding them to our growing collection so that we may build up bikes and pass them along to others who need them!

The Cheshire County Bike Collective needs volunteers to re-build bikes, clean, and teach. We're always looking for donations of bikes, parts, and tools. There are tons of ways to get involved, just drop us an email and say hi!
'''Apprenticeship''' is a traditional method, still popular in some countries, of training a new generation of skilled crafts practitioners.
'''Apprentices''' (or in early modern usage '''"prentices"''') build their careers from apprenticeships. Most of their training is done on the job while working for an employer who helps the apprentices learn their trade. Often some informal, theoretical education is also involved.

==Should I contribute? ==
Yes, absolutely! If you are comfortable with adding content to the wiki, then go for it!

==How should I get started?==
The first thing you should do is [[Special:Userlogin|Create an Account]].

Once you've created an account, you should use the search bar or visit the list of [[Community Bicycle Organizations]] to see if your Bike Collective or Bicycle Organization has been included in this wiki, and if so, whether it's information is correct and up-to-date.

If you want to help out and need some direction, a good place to start would be to look at the [[Special:WantedPages|most wanted pages]]. Start creating these pages if you know anything about the subject, or if you feel that the content should be linked elsewhere (such as [http://www.wikipedia.org/ Wikipedia] or [http://www.sheldonbrown.com/ Sheldon Brown]) you can edit the original article to remove it from the list.

==How do I see if my Bike Collective or Bicycle Organization is included in this wiki?==
You can use the [[Special:Search|Search Page]] to search for the name of your group, or see if it is on the list of [[Community Bicycle Organizations]]. Search is also available as a search box on the left-hand side of every page.

==Can I edit any page?==
Yes! Anybody can edit (nearly) any page. To start editing any page, just click on 'edit' tab at the top.

==How do I create a new page?==
You start new pages by looking for them from the [[Special:Search|Search Page]]. When the word or phrase you've searched for is not found, you can begin editing the non-existant page by following the red link in the search results. This works for any [[red link]]!

If you want to link to a word that is not necessarily bike related, but deserves a definition. Try to see if it's on [http://www.wikipedia.org wikipedia] first. You can link to it using the external link.

==What information should be on the page for my Bike Collective or Bicycle Organization?==
Generally, this is up to you! Although to make this wiki as useful as possible, pages should generally include your geographical location or address, a link to your website, an email address or phone number, and a mission statement or description about what you do.

To make this easy for you and uniform for every individual bicycle organization page, the Bike Collective Wiki has a template that's easy to use. When creating a new page, in the "Select boilerplate" section, simply select "Load" for the "Community Bicycle Organization template".

The page will then pre-load a template which you can fill out with the relevant information. For more details, [[Template:Community_Bicycle_Organization/doc | see the full documentation for the template]].

More general Wiki editing tips are also available [[Help:Editing|here]].

==What information should NOT be on the page for my Bike Collective or Bicycle Organization?==
Again, anything goes, but it's best to avoid including details that will likely be out of date soon. Things like hours of operation, board members, and costs to the user should be easy to find on your website, including them here will only cause you to have to update the page more often. However, including that your shop is generally open 50 hours a week or the names of founders or long term executives would be fine.

== When should I use those square brackets? ==
Using square brackets around a term will create a link to a page about that topic. If the page doesn't exist yet, you or anyone else can create it at any time.

The best time to use these on your collective's page is when you mention a service. For example:
<pre>
We have been providing an [[Earn-a-bike program]] since Nov. 2008.
</pre>

No need to go into too much detail here, the user can find out more by clicking on the link. If your program is different than most however, please add your information to the linked page so that a user can see all of the possibilities without having to search through all collective pages.

==How do I upload files or photos?==
# [[Special:Userlogin|Create an Account]]
# Go to the [[Special:Upload|Upload File]] page.
# Click on the '''Browse...''' button
# Browse and double click your file (ex: Filename.jpg) or hightlight it and click the '''Open''' button.
# Click the '''Upload file''' button. You don't need to include a summary or choose a license if you're unsure.
# Now that it is uploaded you can use '''<nowiki>[[Image:Filename.jpg]]</nowiki>''' in your wiki pages to display it.

==I have some content, but I'm not sure about all this formatting code.==
That's ok! Go ahead and add whatever text you would like. An administrator will see that you've created a new page and fix any issues it may have.

==I've added some content, but something doesn't look right!==
That's ok! If you're not too worried about it, just leave it for an administrator to straighten up. If you'd like to DIY, though, you can contact one of the administrators for additional tips (see below).

==I've read this guide, but I'm still not comfortable adding content to this wiki!==
If this still doesn't quite make sense, don't worry! Feel free to send anything you have in an email or as an attachment and someone here will happily contribute it for you.

==I'd like to speak to an administrator, please!==
To communicate with an administrator on the wiki, go to the [[Special:ListUsers/bureaucrat|List of Administrators]] and click on one to go to their profile page. To send them a message, click on the 'discussion' tab to go to their talk page, and from there click the '+' sign next to the 'edit' tab to add a new discussion topic. ([[User:Jonathan|Jonathan]], [[User:Dustingram|Dustin]], [[User:Quill|Quill]] , and [[User:Godwin|Godwin]] are generally available.)
If you have seen a warning on your organization's page, you probably don't meet the current standard but it may have changed since you last edited it. == Problems With the Template ==
Right now there's an issue with the template that has something to do with "transcluding the documentation." Until the solution is sorted out, just delete "< includeonly>" from the top of the page and everything from "< /includeonly>" to "< /noinclude>" at the bottom of the page.
You should probably copy your old text first as loading a new boilerplate will replace all of the text in the document. Then plug in your old information into the new page.

If there have been only minor changes, you may find it easier to compare using the template as it is shown below.

== Problems With the Template ==
Right now there's an issue with the template that has something to do with "transcluding the documentation." Until the solution is sorted out, just delete "< includeonly>" from the top of the page and everything from "< /includeonly>" to "< /noinclude>" at the bottom of the page.

== The Template ==
If you were to load the boilerplate into a new page, the page would have the following content:

<pre>
{{
| year_founded   =
<!-- Leave this next field empty if the organization is still in operation -->
| year_dissolved =
This information can extremely useful for other organizations wanting to start providing the same service.

Dustingram: /* What information should be on the page for my Bike Collective or Bicycle Organization? */ Updated to reflect boilerplate

==Should I contribute? ==
Yes, absolutely! If you are comfortable with adding content to the wiki, then go for it!

==How should I get started?==

==Can I edit any page?==
Yes! Anybody can edit (nearly) any page. To start editing any page, just click on 'edit' tab at the top.

==How do I create a new page?==

A completed template will look something like what follows:
<pre>
{{
shop-info
| name = Your Bicycle Organization
| year_founded   = 2001
<!-- Leave this next field empty if the organization is still in operation -->
| year_dissolved =
| website  = www.awesomebikeproject.com
Here's what we offer and why!
</pre>

See more editing tips [[Help:Editing|here]].

<pre>
We have been providing an [[Earn-a-bike program]] since Nov. 2008.
</pre>

No need to go into too much detail here, the user can find out more by clicking on the link. If your program is different than most however, please add your information to the linked page so that a user can see all of the possibilities without having to search through all collective pages.

==How do I upload files or photos?==
